Following full union and regional association consultation, the specialist law review group recommended a package of law trials and edits that were subsequently approved by Council at its interim meeting in October.World Rugby’s Pacific Challenge, U20 Trophy and Nations Cup in 2016 will trial the full package of YEAR IN REVIEW 2015 WORLD RUGBY 15LEFTThe first trials of the law amendments are underway in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship law amendments (which can be viewed at www.worldrugby.org), while the first trials are underway with the Principality Cup in Wales, the National Rugby Championship in Australia and the National Provincial Championship in New Zealand.Player, coach, fan, match official and media feedback will be sought as part of a comprehensive evaluation of the closed trials by the law review group in mid-2016 with recommendations made to the World Rugby Council in November 2016 as to whether to adopt or not as a global trial. Any global trials will commence in January 2017 (southern hemisphere) and July 2017 (northern hemisphere). The quadrennial laws review process was launched in 2015 with the objective of making the game as enjoyable to play and watch as possible, while identifying areas of player welfare enhancement.WORLD RUGBY LAWS REVIEW LAUNCHED
